Few poets have shaped language, thought, and feeling as profoundly as Friedrich Hölderlin (1770–1843). On the occasion of his 250th birthday, Barbara Klemm (*1939) visited the places that are featured in his poems. With her camera, she traced the perspectives opened up by his verses: from the Neckar Valley to Greece, from Tübingen to Bordeaux, always towards the open, which Hölderlin also aspired to. Klemm's sensitive photographs engage with Hölderlin's words, and their shared gaze unfolds an impressive dialogue in which images and poems intimately connect.
