This book offers a broad overview of banking management. Using the tools of capital market theory and information economics, the functions that banks perform in a financial system are worked out and typical banking operations are explained. The most important facets of bank management are covered, as well as the theoretical foundations of regulation. Following the trend of regulation, management and supervisory measurement of the individual risk types are presented in an integrated way. Further developments in banking supervision are incorporated. The authors are the holders of bank chairs at the three universities, from which personnel managers of banks and insurance companies prefer to recruit their business administration graduates (Junge Karriere, 23.4.2004).
