Servant Leadership, or servant leadership, is a form of leadership that turns the traditional top-down concept on its head. Servant Leadership emphasizes taking responsibility, service, and commitment to one's own growth as well as that of others. It promotes holistic perspectives on the qualities of people, work, and the environment, and relies on an ethical and moral application of power and empowerment. The terms serving and leading are not mutually exclusive, as demonstrated in this work. The author draws on the views of American Robert K. Greenleaf, who is considered the initiator and promoter of Servant Leadership.
