Bachelor + Master Medienbildung in der Schule - nein danke? Warum deutsche Lehrer in ihrem Unterricht den Computer mei

For over 30 years, the Conference of Ministers of Education has recommended integrating digital media into teaching and educational plans, using them across subjects in the classroom, and providing appropriate training for teachers. Nevertheless, according to ICILS 2013, computers are used less frequently in classrooms in Germany than in any other country. This paper explores the reasons for the infrequent use of computers in teaching. What is new is that this investigation not only focuses on the school's IT infrastructure, the teachers' subject knowledge, and their professional habits, but also considers semi-professional motives, as well as legal and societal frameworks. Here too, causes for media abstinence in the classroom can be found. As a result, this work reveals an overwhelming number of reasons why teachers cannot, do not want to, or are not allowed to use computers in their lessons. However, this paper does not claim to fully represent this complex topic. Instead, it offers many suggestions for further reflection and research.
