This bachelor's thesis addresses euthanasia in the discussion and outlines the legal foundations as well as ethical aspects after World War II in Germany. The reason for the recurring emotional debate surrounding euthanasia is the continuous advancement of medicine: especially since the mid-20th century, the development in life-saving emergency medicine has been progressing steadily. The aim of the bachelor's thesis is to promote a unified understanding of the euthanasia complex, provide an overview of the historical development of euthanasia after World War II, and present the euthanasia discussion in the Bundestag up to mid-2015.
