Product details

Fatma Aydemir's novel "Dschinns" (2022) is a family novel that centers on the challenges surrounding the topic of migration. Although it is set in the 1990s, it addresses current aspects of this topic from various perspectives. With her novel, Fatma Aydemir makes fellow citizens with a history of migration visible and thus gives them a voice in the contemporary literary scene. The novel is aimed at readers of all ages, especially young adolescents who can identify with the children of the Yilmaz family due to their age, regardless of whether they themselves have a history of migration or not. The novel opens up numerous learning opportunities for student-oriented lessons in upper secondary schools.

The accompanying teaching materials analyze, among other things, the connection between finding identity and migration in Fatma Aydemir's multi-layered novel. The special narrative structure, which allows the various family members to "have their say," offers numerous opportunities for analysis and identification to deal with the known or still unknown "life in between" as a result of migration. These aspects are explored with analytical as well as action- and production-oriented tasks so that the pupils acquire, practice, and deepen a wide range of skills relevant to the Abitur. In line with contemporary teaching situations, the workbook also offers a variety of digital options in addition to analogue tasks, providing additional help for working on the tasks, an extended range of materials, and digital interactive tasks. In this way, "Dschinns," in combination with modern analysis settings, succeeds not only in building and strengthening literary skills in upper secondary school pupils but also in making them more interested in literature.
