Product details
The trend of dementia diseases in Germany is increasing due to demographic developments. Dementia can take various forms, including Alzheimer's disease, Lewy body diseases, and vascular dementia. Although delirium is a distinct, reversible condition, it often occurs alongside dementia. The first part of this seminar volume provides an introduction to the conditions of dementia and delirium. Diagnostics and other diseases associated with dementia are presented. The focus of the pharmaceutical section is on medication analysis. Pharmacological measures for treating various symptoms and delirium are highlighted. A look at the development of pharmacotherapy for dementia concludes the topic. The author team offers practical aids for dealing with these conditions and describes ways pharmacists can provide support. With numerous illustrations, structured tables, and examples, the work is very illustrative and provides an overview of the subject. Dr. Silke Wunderlich is a senior physician at the Clinic and Polyclinic for Neurology at the Klinikum der TU Munich. Pharmacist Dr. rer. nat. Kirsten Dahse researched the fundamentals of Alzheimer's disease in 2013 as part of her dissertation.
