Product details

This work addresses the phenomenon of prostitution, the offering and utilization of paid sexuality. Prostitution occurs in many different forms and settings, with sexual services primarily offered by women and demanded by men. Consequently, prostitution can be interpreted from a feminist perspective as an expression of unequal gender relations and the underprivileging of women in society. The opposing discourse on prostitution views it as legitimate employment that should be recognized as such and as a right to sexual self-determination. There is consensus that the working and living conditions of women and men in prostitution need to be improved. Due to societal stigmatization and discrimination, prostitutes face exclusionary issues that are further exacerbated by disadvantageous legal regulations. Additionally, this work takes a look at the demand side in the field of prostitution and provides insight into the motives of men who purchase sexuality.
