Autorität in der Moral

In the history of Catholic moral theology, the authority of the ecclesiastical office has traditionally played a special role in matters of morality. However, under the banner of moral autonomy, claims of ecclesiastical authority have been significantly challenged since the Second Vatican Council. Against this backdrop, the volume tackles the theme of authority in morality from two perspectives: the first part elaborates on historical developments and typologies of ecclesiastical (office) authority. The second part addresses the question of which instances can legitimately claim moral authority.
