Autonomie und Verbundenheit - Kunst als Achtsamkeitspraxis

Mindfulness: Today, this term is used to describe a fundamental attitude towards life. Two factors play a key role here: on the one hand, a mindful attitude to life supports awareness of individual human needs and thus promotes subject autonomy. On the other hand, mindful behaviour fosters an appreciative approach to all living beings in the natural and social environment and thus promotes a comprehensive connection to life as an ethical principle. Art as a mindfulness practice: This publication takes up the impulses of general mindfulness education in the didactics of art lessons. Under the guiding concept of 'autonomy', various approaches to aesthetic design are understood as a specific pedagogical method through which learners are empowered to engage with themselves in a joyful way using manual-technical means and the use of their own bodies. Under the guiding concept of 'connectedness', it is emphasised that mindful design practice promotes a conscious approach to the world among adolescents and in this way makes an important article for the sustainable, in particular ecologically oriented development of the individual and society. 150 teaching examples from first to twelfth grade show how this methodological concept can be successfully implemented. The revolution of the future will take place in schools, because mindful living not only offers a variety of impulses for holistic personal development, but also has a direct impact on all forms of collective coexistence.
