Abstract: The standard of living in industrialized countries has steadily increased over the past decades. However, the improvement in quality of life, which most people understand as the use of as many consumption and service offerings as possible, also comes at a price that is often forgotten in the act of consuming: the consumption of natural resources and its ecological consequences. Undeniably, economic growth has brought a high level of prosperity to many people, especially in industrialized countries. At the same time, however, the planet Earth has been and continues to be exploited through growth, production, services, and consumption.
