Auswirkungen der Hafentätigkeit auf die nationale Wirtschaft: Der Fall des PAA

The world has experienced several economic and industrial revolutions in the past, the last being the Internet revolution. The next revolution will take place at sea, and it is already underway, stated the French maritime cluster in 2017. The Ivorian state is aware of such a revolution and does not intend to lag behind. It aims to establish itself as a preferred choice in the West African subregion. Therefore, with this study, we aim to demonstrate the impact of the Port of Abidjan on the country's economy, so that the port economy receives a prominent place in this endeavor. For the empirical validation of the study, we used vector error correction models based on cointegration theory. It is concluded that there is a long-term effect between traffic at the Port of Abidjan and the Ivorian economy. The study also provides elasticities of exports and imports from the port, as well as their causal relationships with real GDP. An impulse analysis concludes the study.
