How would you prefer to die? Are you afraid of death? Can one make peace with death? In the portrait book "Living Out," fifteen women and men over 80 share their thoughts, fears, and hopes regarding their own death. They recount their lives and describe what it feels like to look ahead. The final stage of life presents us all with significant challenges: aging with dignity and ultimately dying is a task for the end of life. Nevertheless – or perhaps precisely because of this – death loses its terror for many elderly people. Some even develop a kind of friendly or humorous relationship with it. The proximity to death, combined with the life experience of older individuals, is touching and inspiring: a book for everyone who will one day die.
