In a permanent stupor of alcohol and cocaine, Bernd Thränhardt moves in the world of the rich and beautiful. A life in the fast lane - until he ends up at the bottom. As a successful filmmaker he has a 17-hour day and is constantly under power, his everyday life is dominated by hedonism and the greed for ever more intense living. Alcohol becomes a soul comforter, relaxing and euphoric at the same time. For a TV documentary, he accompanies Boris Becker around the globe for a year. His life tips over into addiction. Thränhardt becomes a border crosser: debauched parties, premiere celebrations, drunken nights, escort services, snorting cocaine in the toilet. He loses his dignity and self-respect, and with 2.5 per mille he finally checks into a private clinic for inpatient detoxification. Further relapses follow until he realises: "A book about delusions of grandeur and fear of failure, about crashes, destroyed relationships and lies, about painful honesty and the search for a new life.
