Ausbildung auf Traditionsschiffen und ihre Vereinbarkeit mit STCW und MOU

Whereas in many countries sailing ships are considered professional vessels and must therefore be manned by professional sailors, Germany takes a different approach. For traditional sailing ships, which mainly serve idealistic purposes or the training of crews for such ships, there has been the possibility of operating as a traditional ship since 1991. This is associated with simplifications with regard to equipment and crewing. Today, these regulations must be measured against international rules and regulations such as STCW and MOU. This book examines whether and, if so, which changes are necessary in the German regulations in order to meet international requirements.
