"The case of illness I am going to report on here is characterized by a number of peculiarities which call for their emphasis before presentation. It concerns a young man who, in his eighteenth year after a gonorrheic infection, collapsed as sick and was completely dependent and unable to exist when he entered psychoanalytic treatment several years later.
