Product details
"From the Akasha Chronicle" was first published as a series of twenty essays from July 1904 to May 1908 in the magazine "Lucifer – Gnosis." Subsequently, Rudolf Steiner had a slightly revised version printed in four special edition collections of the same magazine, which can be referred to as the "final edition." Steiner never realized an independent book edition. Posthumously, six additional editions have been published, starting in 1939, when Marie Steiner first compiled the essays into a book. On this occasion, the editor made minor changes to adapt the original magazine essays to book format. A text comparison has shown that the writing was also revised orthographically, stylistically, and in some places even in content. Similarly, further changes to the text were made silently in the subsequent editions.
The completely revised new edition makes the editorial and publication history of "From the Akasha Chronicle" visible and restores access to the text of the final edition. It also reinstates the structure of the work into two parts with separately numbered chapters as arranged by Steiner. The differences between the various editions are documented in the appendix.
