The Augustinus-Lexikon (AL) is a multi-volume lexicon of terms and real terms. In alphabetical order it covers terms, persons and things that are important for Augustine's life, work and teaching. In order to be able to present larger contexts, the AL not only deals with Augustine's biography and writings, but also includes his ecclesiastical-political position, the personalities of his environment as well as the contemporary historical context. The AL presents the concepts characteristic of Augustine's thought, taking into account both the Christian and the pagan-ancient traditions. The articles are written by internationally recognized Augustine specialists in the respective academic disciplines and published in German, English or French. Augustine himself is quoted in the original. An extensive bibliography concludes each article.
