The development of eye eurythmy can be traced back to the ophthalmologist Dr. Ilse Knauer. Rudolf Steiner asked the then young doctor, who had a deep connection to eurythmy, to establish an ophthalmology based on anthroposophy. In collaboration with eurythmists and based on Rudolf Steiner's eurythmy course, Knauer developed the first exercises of eye eurythmy. Her research confirmed the connection between the eye and the whole person, allowing her to further elaborate on the eurythmic exercises for eye diseases. To this day, eye eurythmy has been further developed by doctors and eurythmists for newly emerging medical conditions. The new edition of the book has been updated and expanded to reflect the current state of ophthalmology. A detailed appendix documents and gathers the works previously published in journals.
