Aufenthaltsqualität in Stadtparks im Kontext von Gentrification

The topics of neighborhood upgrading and gentrification are widely discussed in the human geography literature and are portrayed negatively in critical geography and urban studies. The issue of quality of stay in public spaces stands in contrast to upgrading and gentrification, with some scientific studies addressing its sub-aspects. However, this topic has rarely been examined comprehensively. Furthermore, quality of stay can be associated with aesthetics. This includes concepts such as the feeling of safety, sensuality and the senses, as well as well-being, architecture, and art. Finally, the social aspects of encounter and communication complete the understanding of quality of stay. This publication presents theoretical, empirical, and methodological aspects for a holistic understanding of quality of stay in urban parks in the context of gentrification, using the modern Hardaupark in Zurich as a case study.
