This book describes the measurement of the divergence angle of a low-divergent laser beam with a Gaussian profile. Normally, such a measurement requires a measurement tunnel of about 100 meters in length. However, a special lens system is used here, which expands the laser beam. The divergence measurement of the expanded laser beam can be performed on a small laboratory table. Now, with the known optical parameters of the lens system and using matrix optics, it is possible to back-calculate to the original low-divergent laser beam. The method described in this book allows for the measurement of the divergence angle of a Gaussian laser beam without the need for a long measurement tunnel.
