„Auf Fahrt für Führer, Volk und Vaterland“

This study focuses on the reports of the border and foreign trips of national political educational institutions to the members of the German minority in south-eastern Europe. It examines the question of how the interpretive guidelines of the institutional actors, the national-political educators, influenced the views and statements of the individual actors, the pupils and participants in the trips. The study shows how the contents of the lessons were consolidated in the concrete preparation for the trip abroad and, in a second step, raised to the level of experience through intensive experiences on the road. The constellations between the educational and youth actors become visible as forms of indoctrination. The reports of the trips show how, on the one hand, difference was created in the encounter of different systems of norms and, on the other hand, how the potential for action was derived from elite and national consciousness.
