Shortly before the opening of the Higher Barton Romantic Hotel in Cornwall, its director Harris Garvey disappears along with 10,000 pounds from the hotel's coffers. The boss, unloved by the staff, is finally discovered on ice - in a freezer. There is no trace of the money.
The hotel manager Sandra Flemming is targeted by the investigation, because she not only profits from Garvey's death as his successor, but also had an affair with him. She claims her innocence, but no one believes her. So she starts to investigate on her own, but the real murderer is willing to do anything to avoid being discovered ...
