Product details
With unusual intensity, the novel depicts the life story of Colometa, a young woman rooted in traditions who loses her husband during the Spanish Civil War and is forced to take her life into her own hands. This fascinating novel made the Catalan author Mercè Rodoreda world-famous. It has been translated into over 20 languages and is now a classic of Catalan literature. Mercè Rodoreda (1908-1983) lived in French exile during the Franco regime and only began to write and publish successfully again after her return.
