The intellectual, who spent decades solely as a cultural journalist and book author and who, as such, is said to only be able to read well and write properly, suddenly picks up a roaring chainsaw. Instead of going to the theater or the museum, he heads into the forest near Jaderberg. Rather than reviewing a book, he wants to fell trees and make firewood - can this go well? It can! This is the uplifting story of a man who experiences a beautiful turn in life. In the countryside, the native of Oldenburg learns to know and appreciate working with wood. At the same time, 'On the Wrong Track' is a love letter to the Wesermarsch. Reinhard Tschapke studied German literature, history, and rhetoric in Oldenburg and Tübingen. He published books about Thomas Bernhard, Karl May, and Heiner Müller. From 1992 to 2001, he was a lecturer at the University of Hanover. From 1989, he lived as a cultural editor for 'Welt' initially in Bonn and later in Berlin. From 1997 to 2019, he was the cultural editor of the Nordwest-Zeitung. He resides in the southern Wesermarsch and is a proud owner of two Stihl chainsaws. His latest publication is the portrait volume 'Oldenburger Encounters'.
