Attachment and learning disability

The development of secure emotional attachments is an important aspect of a child's healthy physical, social, and psychological development. Numerous scientific studies have confirmed that secure attachment serves as a protective factor for child development. Children with learning and performance issues often grow up in families facing multiple stress factors. Therefore, it is reasonable to assume that these children, in addition to their learning difficulties, also experience challenges in forming social relationships. This volume addresses for the first time the attachment representations of learning-disabled school beginners and examines whether and to what extent these differ from those of their typically developing peers. Additionally, it investigates whether the early attachment experiences of children with learning disabilities affect the quality of the teacher-student relationship.
