Erich Kästner, born in Dresden in 1899, established his worldwide fame with two of his first books: "Heart on the Sleeve" (1928) and "Emil and the Detectives" (1929). After the Nazis came to power, his books were burned, and his works were subsequently published in Switzerland by Atrium Verlag. Erich Kästner received numerous literary awards, including the Georg Büchner Prize. He died in 1974 in Munich. Remo Hug is a freelance editor and proofreader, as well as a co-editor of the Erich Kästner Yearbook. He has published, among other works, the monograph "Poems for Use - The Poetry of Erich Kästner" and is currently working on "The Books of Erich Kästner," a six-volume description and bibliography of all editions and printings of Kästner's books that have been published worldwide to date.
