Atlas der Säugetiere – Schweiz und Liechtenstein

This extensive work is based on years of preliminary research: all mammal species of Switzerland and Liechtenstein. Scientifically grounded species portraits of all 99 wild species, accompanied by numerous photos and a highly up-to-date distribution map. Published by the Swiss Society for Wildlife Biology.

Currently, 99 wild mammal species are found in Switzerland and Liechtenstein. The Atlas of Mammals in Switzerland and Liechtenstein portrays these species according to the latest scientific knowledge. The species portraits include easily understandable texts on biology, distribution, habitat requirements, as well as conservation and management status, along with distribution maps, numerous photos, and diagrams. Cross-species aspects are explained in 15 focus chapters, covering topics such as the reintroduction of extinct species and the management of large predators. In addition to recognized experts, many laypeople have also contributed to the atlas through citizen science projects. The work is also available in French and Italian.
