Dealing with power is a skill to be learned. For the young goddess Athena, this means attending the School of the Gods on Olympus for her training. There, she meets her best friends: Aphrodite, Gaia, Ares, Hermes, Hephaestus, and Osiris. Of course, school can be annoying, especially as a teenage goddess. The incredibly dull math classes with Pythagoras are particularly dreadful. However, the acting lessons with Circe are much more to Athena's taste. But the best part: During the holidays, she is looking forward to visiting her Egyptian pen pal Osiris. The comic series "Athena" revolves around childhood friendships, the typical emotional worlds of elementary school students, and divine adventures. The group of gods gallops through mythology in an exciting rush: a journey to the underworld with Odysseus, a quick fortune-telling course with the Sibyl, and a visit to the pyramids with Isis. Sibylline and Frédéric Bagères skillfully weave Greek and Egyptian mythology together, creating a clever episodic storyline. Marie Voyelles adds her distinctive brushstroke with dynamic images in fresh colors. This results in a series for girls and boys aged around 9 years, providing a playful introduction to mythology.
