At the interface of two worlds

The Dominican friar Pierre Claverie, who was murdered on 1 August 1996 together with his Muslim friend Mohamed Bouchikhi, was a pioneer of Islamic-Christian dialogue. The Muslim brother, the completely different one, was not only at the origin of his religious vocation, the dialogue with Muslims was the leitmotif of his life, the effort for a peaceful coexistence of Christians, Muslims and atheists was the answer to the call of the Holy Spirit. Pierre Claverie, born on 8 May 1938 in Algeria, was beatified on 8 December 2018.
