Aspekte des neuen Rechtsradikalismus

On April 6, 1967, Theodor W. Adorno delivered a lecture at the University of Vienna at the invitation of the Association of Socialist Students of Austria, which is not only of historical interest today. Against the backdrop of the rise of the NPD, which had already achieved remarkable electoral successes in the first two years after its founding in November 1964, Adorno analyzes the goals, means, and tactics of the new right-wing radicalism of that time, contrasting it with the old Nazi fascism and particularly questioning the reasons for the support that far-right movements found among parts of the West German population – 20 years after the end of the war. Much has changed since then, but some things have remained the same or have returned today, 50 years later. Thus, aspects of the new right-wing radicalism read like a message in a bottle to the future, the value of which for our present is elaborated by Volker Weiss in his afterword.
