Aschaffenburg

"The gate to the Spessart" - no other nickname describes the situation of Aschaffenburg on the Bavarian Lower Main more aptly. This illustrated book offers the viewer a fascinating insight into the history of the city of Aschaffenburg. The mostly unpublished photographs were taken between 1863 and 1960 and represent unique contemporary documents in their own way. The interested observer is granted insights into the everyday life of the time as well as depictions of the architecture. The authors Sylvia Breiter and Thomas Hesse would like to use this illustrated book to show both the locals and the new citizens, but also the guests of the city, an Aschaffenburg at the turn of the century and beyond. At the same time already known motifs, which have been forgotten for many in this form, are put into a new light.
