Augusto Gansser

As a geologist and researcher tracing the history of the Earth in Greenland in 1934, Augusto, barely twenty years old, participated in his first expedition: the exploration of the Arctic alongside the famous Danish geologist and explorer Lauge Koch. Two years later, he accompanied his professor Arnold Heim on a significant geological expedition to the still largely unknown Himalayas. They ventured through valleys, over peaks and glaciers into the most remote corners of northern Uttaranchal, reaching near the sacred mountain of Kailash in Tibet, which was inaccessible to foreign researchers at that time.
