The exams for the Goethe/ÖSD Certificate B1 and the new Goethe Certificate B2, introduced in 2019, are extensive and demanding, which is why they require preparatory materials that also set high standards while motivating learners. "Werkstatt" is such a versatile series of teaching materials. On one hand, it serves to prepare for the exam. At the same time, it covers all the learning content of levels B1 and B2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference. The "Werkstatt" series can be used both for self-study and in classroom courses. It allows preparation for both the overall exams and individual modules. Depending on the composition and goals of the course, "Werkstatt" can be used directly before the exam or in the final phase of a B1 or B2 course alongside any course-leading teaching material, or, as mentioned, as a compact B1 or B2 teaching resource. It is recommended to go through "Werkstatt" linearly, especially before taking the overall exam; in all other cases, one can skip certain theoretical or practical parts as desired.
