Armut und Menge

The poor are always the multitude of the poor - but how is this multitude represented in literature and cultural history? What does it mean to represent the poor or to take sides with them? The articles in this volume approach the phenomenon from different angles and ask about the image and possibilities of representation of the poor in Europe and Latin America, the constellations and convergences of the crowd and the masses, the visibility of subjects in the crowd and the crowd as a (political) subject. The volume examines the concepts, practices and aesthetics that overlap in the relationship between the crowd and poverty.
