Armando Ronca (1901-1970), a native of Verona, studied engineering in Genoa, Turin and Padua and began his professional career in Trento. From 1935 he ran his own architectural office in Bolzano and became the leading mediator of modernity in South Tyrol. Ronca was also active in Milan with a second office, where buildings by Giuseppe Terragni or Gio Ponti, for example, gave him formative inspiration. The defining themes of his work are the sculptural articulation of buildings, the rhythmic structuring of facades and a constant effort to exploit the urban potential of architecture. This book is the first comprehensive presentation of around 40 buildings by Armando Ronca in Merano and Bolzano. Individual buildings such as the Eurotel in Merano are analysed and documented in detail. In addition, the monograph shows all of Ronca's surviving buildings in n.
