Product details

The Nicomachean Ethics gets its name from the fact that Aristotle dedicated it to his son Nicomachus, or according to some, because he published it after his father's death. It deals, as the name suggests, with the doctrine of morality or virtue. Through virtue, a person fulfills their purpose, which consists in achieving their natural perfection and thereby becoming happy. Therefore, for Aristotle, the goal of man is the starting point of ethical consideration. Just as all living beings strive for the good, so does man: his highest good, the aim of all his actions, is happiness, and the ethical discussion will show us that this can only be found in the practice of virtue.
