Archologie in Berlin und Brandenburg 2023

The Yearbook of Archaeology in Berlin and Brandenburg is published by the Archaeological Society in Berlin and Brandenburg in collaboration with the archaeological heritage offices in Berlin and Brandenburg. The contributions vividly present the results of the previous year's work at regional excavation sites from the Stone Age to the 20th century, while also providing insights into the modern working methods of heritage offices and excavation companies. Regarding this volume: Albert Kiekebusch would be thrilled. Over a hundred years ago, he organized one of the first archaeological construction monitoring projects in our region in Berlin-Buch, where he discovered several house foundations of a Bronze Age village. Today, construction projects allow for extensive, sometimes kilometer-long insights into underground Brandenburg. For this reason, Kiekebusch's village is now considered part of an entire settlement chamber, from which new findings are presented in this volume. Equally exciting are the small, only 3 cm high bronze button in the photo above, a mill site in Potsdam, and a samurai sword from Berlin. The fact that in 2023 a grand house foundation was excavated near the famous "King's Grave" of Seddin – Kiekebusch would be utterly amazed.
