Archivbau und Archivumzug

An archive (re)construction and archive relocation are extraordinary challenges that most of those involved face only once in their professional lives. In this volume, the various project participants (architects, archivists, builders, IT specialists, project managers, shelf planners, restorers, relocation logisticians, etc.) give their opinions. Their expertise has contributed to the successful construction and relocation to Duisburg of one of the largest archives in Germany, the Rhineland Department of the State Archive of North Rhine-Westphalia. The experience gathered from the cooperation during the construction and relocation, which is compiled here, should help to support future projects of this kind in the preparation, planning and implementation, both practically and in terms of communication.
