Product details
Adolf Krischanitz is undoubtedly the most important representative of the up-and-coming and highly regarded
Viennese architecture scene of the 1980s and 1990s. A key work
work of Krischanitz's oeuvre is the Quai Zurich Campus, the last project of his
Quai Zurich Campus of his Zurich branch - the headquarters of the Zurich Insurance
Insurance Group (Zurich) on Mythenquai. Based on this previously unpublished
project, the book uses plans and extensive photo galleries to reveal in detail
Krischanitz's understanding of architecture. This is based on the creation of something new from
the existing and bears a deep cultural responsibility. Exemplary
this design approach is demonstrated in individual subject areas and illustrated with building details
illustrated with building details and quotations.
An essay by Hubertus Adam and conversations with Adolf Krischanitz and other
companions shed light on the architect's successful career in Switzerland and his
his attitude to the built environment. The collaboration with artists such as Helmut
Federle, Gilbert Bretterbauer and architects such as Meili Peter, Herzog & de Meuron
and Alfred Grazioli are also illuminated, as is Krischanitz's view of the Swiss
the Swiss architecture scene and the question of the difference between building in
Switzerland and that in Austria. An article by Martino Stierli thematises the tradition
of the insurance building type, exemplified by the Insurance Mile on Zurich's
Mythenquai in Zurich. But connections to current topics in society are also
society are also highlighted. The Zurich Archive also reveals historical
moments of the insurance group.
Ten selected projects illustrate the breadth of architect Krischanitz's creative work and
and complement the catalogue raisonné of all his office's Swiss projects.
