Abstract: This paper deals with essential information on the topic of burnout and work-related stress. To provide an overview, the basics are explained at the beginning. Then, you will learn what is meant by work-related stress, as well as general definitions of burnout syndrome. You will also learn what causes burnout at work and what coping options are available.
Doesn't everyone know the feeling of being unable to continue and lacking the motivation to go on? Whether in professional or private matters, what happens when this state does not subside and the same thought recurs daily? What is it like for those affected who increasingly doubt themselves and their abilities, losing faith in themselves and the desire to live? For some, this is unimaginable; for others, it is a daily struggle to stay on their feet. How can we provide such individuals with courage for the future?
Economic development, structural changes in the world of work, and increasing work demands put many workers under pressure and trigger psychological and physical problems. Long working hours, insufficient recognition and praise from employers, and fear of job loss are seen as causes of this mental illness. In the literature, stress and burnout are often used synonymously. Burnout syndrome is primarily viewed as a long-term consequence of stress, caused by excessive demands. It is believed that high work demands and the inability to cope with problems play a significant role in the development of burnout syndrome. Therefore, burnout syndrome is seen as the final stage of a failed process of coping with stress.
