Student research project from the year 2014 in the subject area Leadership and Human Resources - Burnout, Stress at Work, grade: 2,0, , language: German, abstract: This paper deals with the essential information on the topic of burnout and work-related stress. In order to get an overview, the basics are explained at the beginning. Then you will learn what is meant by work-related stress, as well as general definitions of burnout syndrome. You will also learn what causes burnout at work and what coping options are available. Doesn't everyone know the feeling that they can't do it any more and don't feel like going on? Be it in professional or also in private matters? What happens when this state does not subside and you have the same thought every day? What does it look like inside affected people who doubt themselves and their abilities more and more? Who lose faith in themselves and the desire to live? Unimaginable for some, for others a daily struggle to stay on their feet. How can we give such people courage for the future? Economic development, structural changes in the world of work and increasing work demands put many workers in modern times under pressure and trigger psychological and physical problems. Among other things, long working hours, too little recognition and praise from the employer, and fear of losing one's job are seen as causes of this mental illness. In the literature, stress and burnout are often used synonymously. Mostly, burnout syndrome is seen as a long-term stress consequence, i.e. it is caused by excessive stress. It is believed that high work demands and the inability to cope with problems play a major role in the development of burnout syndrome. Therefore, burnout syndrome is seen as the final stage of a failed process of coping with stress.
