Product details
How is work done in organisations, which forms of organisation and work lead to positive results and effects for people and organisations? The textbook teaches the theories of organising as well as the conditions and strategies of change in and of organisations. Readers will learn how organisations as culture- and climate-producing systems can promote and hinder these changes. The relevance of human resource management for organisational strategy, communication with stakeholders, and the multi-layered positive and negative effects of work, such as stress and fatigue or flow and personality development, are also discussed in detail. A separate chapter is devoted to the topic of internal communication, as it has a significant influence on job satisfaction and is often complained about by employees as being insufficient. In the context of increased expectations of stakeholders, such as residents, citizens, and nature conservation organisations, external communication has also become a high priority for organisations and must be planned and implemented more actively and strategically. Finally, it identifies the factors influencing the performance and behaviour of staff in organisations, in which leadership processes play an important role, although not the only one. The central thread of the book is the need for organisations to adapt to changes in their environment (market, legislation, technology, social values). The adaptation processes involve the reflection and reorientation of organisational goals, strategy, and thus structure, management processes and guidelines, and personnel-related measures. Central theories and concepts of these organisational aspects are presented and the empirical results available to date are reflected on. Against the background of the digital transformation of the economy and society, the current development and future potentials for the work of occupational and organisational psychologists are presented for each area of the organisation.
