Product details

The process water from the starch industry is used for animal feed production. The aim of the development was to obtain dietarily effective soluble fibers for human nutrition and to utilize all material flows generated during processing in a complex manner. The treatment involves the mechanical separation of sedimentable components in the centrifugal field of separators. The remaining components undergo enzymatic hydrolysis. The treated process water is repeatedly separated, removing the coagulated lipids and proteins from the process water. The subsequent ultrafiltration of the process water is carried out with proteases. The retentate and permeate are concentrated by evaporation, and the condensates are returned to the starch extraction process. An arabinoxylan concentrate is precipitated from the retentate concentrate using ethanolic precipitation and then dried to a fibrous fiber concentrate using a grinding dryer. The glucose-containing concentrates generated during the treatment can be used as fermentation substrates.
