Since 1979, Apulia historian Stephan Winkler has been traveling to the Apulian Valley of the Trulli. Thanks to its untouched mass tourism, he discovered an unadulterated food culture based on traditional family recipes, self-sufficiency, and wild vegetables – simple, rustic, and above all, delicious and fresh. It was time to capture this fascinating primordial cuisine. The book "Apulia. Discover and Enjoy in the Valley of the Trulli" is a culinary photo report from one of the most romantically wild regions of Italy. Together with the author and renowned photographer Jörg Wilczek, we embark on a journey of discovery, during which farmers' wives, housemen, bakers, butchers, and top chefs reveal traditional dishes and their favorite recipes: Over 40 recipes, richly illustrated, inspire cooking, eating, and traveling. We visit and explore sights that are not listed in any travel guide – delights for the eyes and palate, and true insider tips for travelers to Apulia and adventurers in search of the authentic.
