Information about the author

Michael Huemer is a professor of philosophy at the University of Colorado at Boulder, USA, where he has worked since 1998. He is the author of "Skepticism and the Veil of Perception" and "Ethical Intuitionism," as well as more than 40 articles in ethics, epistemology, political philosophy, and metaphysics.

Blurb

"Approaching Infinity" addresses seventeen paradoxes of the infinite, most of which have no generally accepted solutions. The book explores these paradoxes using a new theory of infinity, which suggests that an infinite series is uncompletable when it requires something to possess an infinite intense magnitude. Along the way, the author discusses the nature of numbers, sets, geometric points, and related matters.

The book emphasizes the need for a theory of infinity and reviews both old and new theories of infinity.
