Anwendung der Scrum-Entwicklung auf sicherheitskritische Systeme

Scaled agile approaches are increasingly being used by automotive companies to manage the complexity of their organizations and products. The development of automotive systems requires the use of safe procedures. SafeScrum® is a concrete example of how agile approaches can be applied in the development of highly reliable systems on a small scale. A framework like SAFe or LeSS does not inherently facilitate the creation of safety-critical systems on a large scale from the outset. User stories are a wonderful way to convey flexible requirements, the lifecycle is iterative, and testing is the first stage in the development process. Scrum and additional XP approaches can be used to develop highly reliable software, and certification according to the IEC 61508 standard is required for the software. This brings a whole new set of requirements to the workflow. The quality assurance measures of Scrum have proven inadequate in a recent industry situation. For this reason, we studied the standard, engaged an independent auditor, and involved the Scrum team in the process to develop new activities for an internal QA department within the SafeScrum process.
