Refugee children, adolescents, and mothers with young children are particularly vulnerable and require specialized psychotherapeutic, psychiatric, and social integration support. The authors of this book present a practical depiction of the model project aacho, demonstrating how attachment- and development-oriented, culturally sensitive, and trauma-specific therapeutic approaches can meet the individual needs of refugees. It becomes clear that interdisciplinary collaboration, local and accessible networking opportunities, as well as group therapies are particularly suitable for engaging with refugees and meeting them where they are based on their biographies and current life situations. Through a combination of systemic and psychodynamic perspectives, the book outlines new pathways for working with especially vulnerable refugees.
