The Antifasist (Antifa) Gençlik was founded in 1988 in Berlin at the intersection of migrant club culture, youth gangs in the neighborhood, and autonomous antifascist politics. Soon, Antifa Gençlik groups formed in several German cities and beyond. By the mid-1990s, the structures dissolved as a result of state repression. To this day, Antifa Gençlik represents a unique organizational approach within the context of autonomous and antifascist politics in Germany. This volume documents the theoretical foundations and practices of the organization through articles, discussion papers, and interviews published from 1988 to 1994. Additionally, it includes the previously unpublished account of an ex-member, as well as accompanying texts that provide historical context and societal significance of Antifa Gençlik. The book aims to contribute to the documentation of leftist movement history and to stimulate debates on antifascist resistance, migrant self-organization, leftist alliances, and antiracist politics.
