Countless expeditions in all four corners of the world and across the seven seas, battles, intrigues, affairs – the life of old Jo is that of a true adventurer. And the no less aged Amédée is hopelessly captivated by his stories, dreaming himself away to exotic lands during their rambling meetings. Therefore, Jo's sudden death plunges the retired notary, who has never left his home province, into a deep existential crisis. Until he learns that the estate of his well-traveled friend is unresolved. Resolutely, Amédée gets behind the wheel of his orange coupe and sets off in search of a possible heir. Because it is never too late to discover the world – and oneself. "Antananarivo" is the story of two people who could hardly be more different, a journey both outwardly and inwardly, and a comic that brings together two masters of storytelling. The scenario penned by Mark Eacersall is at times exuberant, at times intimate, at times biting and at times tender, funny, profound, and full of poetry. And the artwork by Sylvain Vallée, the master of modern Ligne claire, beautifully captures both the grand moments and the smallest emotions on paper.
