Anselm Reyle: Teenage Wasteland

Anselm Reyle is one of the most internationally renowned German artists of his generation. Born in Tübingen and raised in Heilbronn, he will now take over the entire Kunsthalle Vogelmann. His list of exhibition venues reads like a who's who of the art world: from the Kunsthalle Zurich to Palazzo Grassi in Venice, from Deichtorhallen Hamburg to Kunsthalle Tübingen. His collaborations, such as with Dior for an exclusive handbag series, are legendary. In a surprising way, Anselm Reyle mixes styles, colors, and materials, working with automotive paint, PVC and mirror foil, spray paint, LED lights, concrete, or clay. Found objects play a prominent role in his work, serving as starting materials that can include elements from other artists' works as well as everyday objects, architectures, or designs. Accordingly, reflection, appropriation, transformation, and rephrasing characterize his working method. Viewers become entangled in the surprising rhythm of contrasting formal and material samplings, where the entire repertoire of modern abstract imagery can be found. The planned book will showcase the large-scale wall works created on-site in Heilbronn, present the latest series of works featuring images on burlap, and also provide a glimpse into Anselm Reyle's earlier creations.
